Cagiva Mito

The Cagiva Mito ( mito: Italian for " myth" ) is a produced by the Italian manufacturer Cagiva Motorcycle 125 cc and a power of 22 kW (30 hp).

Due to the sporting appearance she finds recognition particularly among young people.

The light motorcycle, like all 125cc motorcycles, also known as reduced-power version (80 km / h) available. For models that were built after the year 2000 ( N3) Manufacturers are entitled to no technical expertise to fully derestricted version ( 22 kW), but only 11 kW (15 hp) variant in Germany are issued. Background is an EU directive that prescribes a minimum weight per kW of power and is undercut by the Cagiva Mito.

To get a house built after 2000 model approved as completely unthrottled variant in Germany it requires a separate opinion on this increase in performance. This report must be furnished for each individual bike the admission then at the discretion of the TÜV expert. With such, not provided for, enhanced performance, the complete bike is then checked whether going, especially the chassis, the frame and the brake system are designed for high loads and speeds. Because since the Evo model never been anything has changed in the design of the relevant parts of the Mito, these tests are likely to be in favor of registration. However, it should be mentioned that such an opinion to improve performance must not be done by a normal Participate valuers, but only by a senior engineer and you have well over 300 € reckon with costs.

Mito is powered by a single cylinder 2- stroke engine with 124.3 cc and separate lubrication. Depending on the model carburetor were installed with a diameter of 28 mm and 35 mm. Basically, nothing has changed on the engine technology since the design of the Mito 1 to today.

The Mito is produced since 1989, first known as Mito Mito I and II, 1995 changed the design - and the name became " Mito Evolution". The design of the " Mito Evo " comes also as the Ducati 916, by Massimo Tamburini, resulting from the former co- development departments between Cagiva and Ducati.

From 1989 to 1999, she was built exclusively as a 7- speed version with a three-spoke wheels. One exception was the special models " Eddie Lawson " and " Lucky Explorer " with special paint, the former is technically also differed in detail from the normal version. Since 2000 the Cagiva Mito is only with 6-speed manual transmission, 6 -spoke wheels, aluminum silencer (previously Kevlar, which is like discolored ) and with reduced compression, and a 2 -ring piston ( previously 1- ring ) produced. The older models with 1 -ring pistons have a " 200H " cylinder head, the newer one " 200C " cylinder head. An exception is the Swiss model, in which the power was less further reduced with even lower compression and two over-current channels.

Cagiva presented to the public in 2005 for the time being the latest version of the Mito, Mito 525, the SP. Although this model is based on the overall concept of the road version, but modified as a racing car technically. This concerns, for example, the aerodynamic racing fairing with front air intakes, carbon fiber parts, lightweight forged wheels and the absence of all required off-road components such as headlights, turn signals, etc.

The 2008 road model of Cagiva also means 525 SP and builds on this design on. But this really special is the modification to the engine. Cagiva has brought since the early 1990s with 22 kW built engine to Euro 3 standard. For this, the mixture preparation had to be changed. The new system is called ECU ( Electronic Carburetion System). It has a variety of sensors and actuators in order to achieve an optimal mixture formation in each operating state, and thus reduces emissions. Besides, the oil pump is also controlled electronically.

The production of the Cagiva Mito was set in 2011. The Cagiva brand exists today only pro forma; the trademark rights to Cagiva MV Agusta holds.
