The airport was opened in 1939 as the Calgary Municipal Airport with only one terminal, which still exists today. Apron II can accommodate up to four Boeing 747 -handle simultaneously.

General Aviation

The buildings and facilities of general aviation are in the south of the airfield, these are among others to Shell Aero Centre, Esso Avitat, Calgary flight training and a customs house. A fourth; Located east, runway (16L - 34R ) is planned.

The Runway 16-34 is the longest in Canada. The planes have a longer start-up phase due to the low oxygen content.

There are four check-in areas. A special feature is the treatment of passengers on flights to the USA. Customs control is already here instead of in Canada.
