Calico Skies

Calico Skies (English for heaven Kaliko ) is a song by British pop musician Paul McCartney, released in 1997 on his tenth solo album Flaming Pie.

History

McCartney wrote Calico Skies, when he was in Long Iceland in August 1991. About the northeastern United States moved at the time of Hurricane Bob, which McCartney prompting to take the time, a few simple pieces for acoustic guitar - including Calico Skies - to write.

Style

Calico Skies falls especially in comparison with many other songs on Flaming Pie on by his strongly reminiscent of Blackbird, produced purely with acoustic guitar accompaniment sound. The second distinctive feature of the song is the high voice to support the also high playing guitar. Music Video

At Calico Skies a music video was created as part of the documentary In The World Tonight. It is a compilation of two main components: The first is a video recording of McCartney at a campfire in the forest, whereas the second shows him with his then- wife Linda McCartney in a receiving space. The respective sequences using their specially recorded version of the song, which merges into the other during scene changes. The well-known from the album recording is thus not used. In between short clips outside the two Leitvideos are displayed, each lasting only a few seconds.

Aftereffect

Calico Skies counts despite the relative obscurity of the best compositions McCartney. Following the initial report on Flaming Pie it was subsequently performed live and is on two of McCartney's live albums ( Back in the World (2003) and Good Evening New York City (2009) ) included. An orchestral version was published in 1999 as part of the project Working Classical in one place just two minutes long arrangement. Calico Skies was in 2011 for the tribute album " Let Us In " Nashville - A Tribute to resumed Linda McCartney from the U.S. singer Nancy Sirianni.

A self -established reprocessing of McCartney appeared in 2003 as part of the album Hope the aid organization War Child. This version is generally much faster and includes additional tools such as an electric bass and an accordion.
