Camillo Sivori

Ernesto Camillo Sivori ( born October 25, 1815 in Genoa, † February 18, 1894 ibid ) was an Italian violinist and composer.

Life

In accordance with his urgent desire his father bought him at the age of two years, a child violin. Was taught the gifted child by the local teachers, Antonio Restano (* 1790), Giacomo Costa (before 1770-1836 ) one of the teachers Paganini and Agostiono Dellepiane ( 1786-1734 ). In addition, it recognized Niccolò Paganini as his only student that he taught him in the years 1822 and 1823. Sivori had an extraordinary talent, which already allowed him from the age of 10 for many decades, almost continuously to undertake extended concert tours. Meanwhile, back in Genoa, he took 1829-1839 composition lessons with Giovanni Serra ( 1787-1876 ). He he traveled in 1838 to Switzerland, Germany, Austria, Portugal and Spain. He introduced in 1846 as the first on the Mendelssohn concert in London. In the same year he undertook a concert tour of the United States of America, Mexico and several South American countries. He lived for many years in Paris and kept active contact with Giuseppe Verdi, Gioachino Rossini, Luigi Cherubini and Franz Liszt there.

The Ligurian city Finalmarina dedicated to the famous violinist her opera house, Camillo Sivori consecrated it in December 1868 with two concerts one.

Sivori was several excellent Violins, including instruments of Amati, Stradivari, Bergonzi and Jean Baptiste Vuillaume in possession. His favorite instrument was the violin Vuillaume, which he had bought from Paganini. She was a perfect replica of Paganini's legendary Guarnerius " Cannone ". His last years lived Sivori retired and died in 1894 in Genoa.
