Campbeltown

Campbeltown is a village in the administrative district of Argyll and Bute, Scotland.

It is located on the Campbeltown Loch on the Kintyre Peninsula and was formerly known for its shipbuilding and fishing. Today there is produced in the distilleries Springbank, Glen Scotia and Glengyle whiskey. The area around Campbeltown is performed as an independent Scottish whiskey region.

Until the 17th century it was known as Kinlochkilkerran. The population was estimated in 2004 to 5070.

Near the village, the Campbeltown Airport is located.
