CANape

Canape is a measurement, calibration, diagnostics and flash software of Vector computer science GmbH. With the widespread case of vehicle and control equipment suppliers developing software voting algorithms is done in controllers at runtime.

Description

The ECU calibration (also called ECU calibration ) a controller behavior is adjusted without changing the program code only by changing the parameter to different vehicle models or model variants. This is done through the use of measurement and calibration as canape in the laboratory, on test benches or during driving tests. To evaluate the effects of parameter changes, the development engineers have the relevant process variables from with conventional instrumentation with sensors and actuators and read the data from the control unit. At the internal ECU data, eg intermediate results of a calculation function is accessed via the standard interfaces of the control unit (CAN, FlexRay, LIN, Ethernet) or through proprietary hardware interfaces. A typical application for the calibration with canape is the online adjustment. The parameters can be changed directly in the controller. The resulting controller characteristic is directly measurable and therefore verifiable. Based on measured data from the control unit or of physical quantities on or in the vehicle can be analyzed exactly how each change affects.

Functions

All functions necessary to set the parameter values are implemented by default in canape: Measure, adjust, manage, evaluate, flash. Canape also allows symbolic access to data and functions that are accessible via the diagnostic protocol and supports the calibration via XCP on FlexRay. Options extend the functionality of canape for access to models at runtime in Simulink, function bypassing the optical verification of object detection algorithms in the development of driver assistance systems, the visualization of the GPS vehicle position and an ASAM MCD 3 interface.

Versions

Version 1.0 was released in 1996. Up to version 6.0, the product was called Canape graph. Current version of canape is 11.0 (August 2012).

Supported Standards

Access to internal ECU parameters via standardized measurement and calibration as CCP (CAN Calibration Protocol ) and XCP (Universal Measurement and Calibration Protocol ). Canape was the first measurement and calibration tool that allowed access via XCP on CAN and XCP on FlexRay.

Supported ASAM standards, as of October 2011:

  • XCP on CAN Interface Reference
  • XCP on Ethernet Interface Reference
  • XCP on FlexRay Interface Reference
  • XCP on SXI Interface Reference
  • XCP on USB Interface Reference
  • COM / DCOM Interface Reference
  • ASAP3 Automation / Optimization Interface
  • MDF

Other supported standards:

  • KWP2000 on K-Line
  • ISO 14230 (KWP2000 on CAN ), ISO 14229 (UDS )
  • CAN with DBC description format
  • FlexRay Communications System Specification
  • LIN
  • MOST

Requires the development task a high data throughput of up to 5MByte / s, the data access is done with Vector VX1000 system microcontroller- specific data trace and debug interfaces.
