Çandarlı

Çandarlı is a commune and chief town of a district Bucak Dikili the Turkish province of Izmir. The place had 2010 4809 inhabitants.

Çandarlı is located on a promontory on the north shore of the Bay of Çandarlı ( Çandarlı Körfezi ) on the Aegean coast north of İzmir, opposite Aliağa. It is the site of the ancient Pitane. Since there is no official excavations were still performed, except remains of the walls nothing more to see of ancient buildings. In the village there is a Genoese fortress with five towers, probably from the 14th century which was restored in 1955 and is often used by local information as a film set. Çandarlı is a well- crowded resort.

A variety of red pottery that was produced between the Augustan period and the early 4th century at Çandarlı and found among other things in Pitane is called Çandarlı goods.
