Canton of Bayeux

The Canton of Bayeux is a further breakdown of the arrondissement of Bayeux in Calvados in the Basse- Normandie region of France. Representatives of the General Council of the department is continuously Jean- Léonce Dupont since 1998.

History

The canton was founded on March 4, 1790 with the establishment of the departments as part of the then " district Bayeux ".

With the establishment of the arrondissements on 17 February 1800 the canton was again cut as part of the then arrondissement Bayeux.

Geography

The canton is bordered to the north by the Canton of Rye, on the east by the cantons Creully and Tilly -sur -Seulles in the arrondissement of Caen, in the south to the Canton Balleroy and to the west by the Canton Trévières.
