Canton of Balleroy

The Canton Balleroy is a French canton in the department of Calvados in the Basse -Normandie. Representatives of the General Council of the department ( Conseiller général) since 1994 (re-elected 2004) Michel Granger.

History

The canton was founded on March 4, 1790 with the establishment of the departments as part of the then " district Bayeux ".

With the establishment of the arrondissements on 17 February 1800 the canton was again cut as part of the then arrondissement Bayeux.

Geography

The canton is bordered to the north by the cantons Trévières and Bayeux, in the east to the Canton Tilly -sur -Seulles in the arrondissement of Caen, in the south of the canton of Caumont- l'Éventé, on the west by the Canton of Saint- Clair -sur -l ' Elle in the arrondissement of Saint- Lô in the department of Manche and on the northwest by the Canton of Isigny -sur -Mer.
