Canton of Ryes

The Canton of Ryes is a further breakdown of the arrondissement of Bayeux in Calvados in the Basse- Normandie region of France. Representatives of the General Council of the department since 2001, François de Bourgoing.

History

The canton was founded on March 4, 1790 with the establishment of the departments as part of the then " district Bayeux ".

With the establishment of the arrondissements on 17 February 1800 the canton was again cut as part of the then arrondissement Bayeux.

Geography

The canton is bordered to the north by the English Channel to the east and southeast by the Canton Creully the arrondissement Caen, on the southwest by the Canton of Bayeux and the west by the Canton Trévières.
