Captain Morgan

Captain Morgan rum brand is one that is produced by Diageo. The rum brand is named after the Welsh buccaneer Henry Morgan. The main decrease markets are the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Germany and South Africa. History

1944 Seagram began producing rum under the name Captain Morgan Rum Company.

Seagram CEO Samuel Bronfman purchased a distillery named Long Pond from the Jamaican government. Among the buyers of raw rum of the Long Pond distillery was a Kingston pharmacy named Levy Brothers. The Levy family bought raw rum to add herbs and spices as well as to mature the rum and fill in bottles. Bronfman liked the rum finished so much that he acquired the distribution rights.

In the 1950s, Seagram sold his distillery at the Serralles Group, which manufactures Don Q. The Captain Morgan brand was sold to Diageo.

In 2004, Captain Morgan was one of about 54 million liters of the best selling rums in the world. In 2005, the production of Overproof 73 % v Black Label has been set. It was used as an ingredient for high-percentage shooter like the B52. In 2010, Captain Morgan was also advertised in Germany heavily on television with the slogan " Got a little Captain in you? ".
