Carl Baermann

Carl Ludwig Wilhelm Baermann ( born October 24, 1811 in Munich, † May 24, 1885 in Munich) was a German clarinet and Bassetthornvirtuose.

Life

Baermann was the son of Heinrich Joseph Baermann clarinet player and singer Helene Harlas (1785-1818); He had four siblings. Helene Harlas had previously been married to the Bavarian officials Joseph Geiger. Carl Baermann married Barbara Schmitz, they had eight children.

Baermann was musically trained by his father and was an apprentice in 1825 and 1832 laid the Munich Court Orchestra on, in which he played the basset horn and 1847 succeeded his father in the position of principal clarinet.
