Carl Friedrich Echtermeier

Carl Friedrich Real Meier ( born October 27, 1845 in Kassel, † 30 July 1910 in Braunschweig ) was a German sculptor and university teacher.

Life

The son of a Gipsformers learned in his father's workshop the basics of the craft. He attended the Academy of Art Kassel and continued his education 1865/1866 continued at the Art Academy in Munich. This was followed in the years 1867 to 1870 a visit to the Dresden Art Academy, where the influence of his teacher Ernst Hähnel ( 1811-1891 ) was formative. His 1870 created figure " Dancing Bacchante " was awarded several medals. In 1870 married Real Meier and went on a trip to Italy. In 1871 he founded his own studio in Dresden, where he was a sculptor, Robert Diez and Adolf Breymann friendly terms. He corresponded with the Berlin sculptor Fritz Schaper.

High school teacher in Brunswick

In 1883, Meier was True successor of Georg Ferdinand Howaldt as a teacher of modeling and emboss at the Technical University Braunschweig. His pupils were, for example, Gottlieb Elster (1867-1917), Hermann Siedentop (1864-1943), Arnold Kramer (1863-1918) and Eugen Kirch iron ( 1855-1913 ). The collaboration with the architect Constantin Uhde ( rabbit hunt frieze of the Villa Löbbecke 1882 and Frieze for the Rimpausche Villa 1886 in Braunschweig) 1895 ended in dispute. The competition for a Bismarck Memorial in Berlin could not decide for itself, its design has been pointed out in 1899 in Magdeburg Real Meier.

Real Meier, who had been awarded the title "Secret Councilor ," died in 1910 in Brunswick and was buried in the St. Pauli Cemetery in Dresden.

Real Meier created several funerary sculpture, which are mostly situated in Hannover. He produced portrait busts of Brunswick personalities, including Georg Westermann, Heinrich Vieweg and Wilhelm Pockels.
