Carl Gottlieb Reissiger

Carl Gottlieb Reißiger ( born January 31, 1798 in Belzig, † November 7, 1859 in Dresden ) was a German conductor and composer.

Life

Carl Gottlieb Reißiger, brother of Siegfried Dehn 's student Friedrich August that Thomas attended school in Leipzig and was a pupil of Johann Gottfried layer, Peter von Winter and like his contemporary Beethoven by Antonio Salieri in Vienna (1821 ). At the University of Leipzig, he also studied theology. His musical studies he continued in France and Italy ( 1824), he traveled on behalf of the Prussian Ministry of the Interior to continue.

In 1826 he sang for only a short time with Carl Friedrich Zelter in the Sing- Akademie zu Berlin. In 1826 he was appointed to Dresden initially as successor Heinrich Marschner's music director, but then came the successor of Carl Maria von Weber as Kapellmeister. He led the office until his death in 1859.

He belonged to the Masonic lodges Baldwin zur Linde in Leipzig and to the three swords and Astraea at the verdant diamond in Dresden.

Work

Reißiger created an extensive composition work, including the oratorio David (1852 ), nine Latin and four German fairs as well as 60 songs. His major fairs (10 to 12 in number) composed for the Catholic Court Church, distinguished by rich melodies and warm sensation. The same is true for his hymns, motets and songs that have appeared in many collections, and for the oratorio David. He also wrote orchestral and chamber music of all kinds to Reissiger most successful works are his operas. The rocks mill is now lost, only the overture is obtained.

Besides his own works at the Royal Court Theatre, he was known also by the premiere of Wagner's Rienzi in 1842. One of his pupils was Hermann Berens.
