Carl Gottlieb Svarez
Carl Gottlieb Svarez, originally Schwartz, ( born February 27, 1746 Schweidnitz, † May 14, 1798 in Berlin) was a Prussian lawyer and judicial reformers.
Life
He was the son of a lawyer and alderman, who "had dressed in the cloak learned Spanish spelling" the original family name Schwartz (H. Thieme ) - hence the notation, Svarez '. After he had received in 1762 the study of law at the Alma Mater Viadrina in Frankfurt ( Oder), he laid in 1766 in Breslau the Assessor exam from. Since 1771 he was there as a senior Government official of the closest collaborators of the former Silesian Justice Minister and later Prussian chancellor Johann Heinrich von Carmer. 1779 Müller -Arnold- process was the occasion for his appointment to the Berlin Ministry of Justice.
In this position, he was instrumental in the development of the soon adopted Prussian works of the law, in addition to the General Court by order soon detached Corpus Juris Fridericianum especially the General Land Law for the Prussian States (ALR ). This work influenced the legal life in Prussia for decades. When the law came into force in 1794, incorporated limits of the royal influence had been painted on the Justice again at the direction of Frederick William II of Svarez.
Its activity but was not exhausted in working on these projects. He taught the future King Friedrich Wilhelm III. with the crown prince surviving lectures and turned with his popular " lessons about the laws " to the Prussian population, as well as with the ( fictitious ) " exchange of letters on the current judicial reform in the Prussian States ." With his work, he was one of the leading lawyers of his time, the era of rational law. In April 1798 the king appointed him to the Academy of Sciences. Its introduction was omitted there because he succumbed to a groin ailment on May 14 1798.
Carl Gottlieb Svarez was married to Johanna Dorothea Arndt (1755-1827), the marriage remained childless. Johanna Dorothea Arndt was the sister of Gottfried August Arndt ( 1748-1819 ).
