Carl Gussenbauer

Carl Ignatz Gussenbauer (also Karl Ignatz Gussenbauer; born October 30, 1842 in Obervellach, Carinthia, † June 19, 1903 in Vienna ) was an Austrian surgeon.

Gussenbauer was a professor in Liege, Prague and Vienna. From 1894 onwards he was the successor of Theodor Billroth II the University Surgical Clinic. 1902/1903 he was rector of the University of Vienna.

1910 Gussenbauergasse was named in the 9th district of Vienna Alsergrund after him.
