Carl Henrik Boheman

Carl Henrik Boheman (* July 10, 1796 in Jonkoping, † November 2, 1868 in Stockholm) was a Swedish entomologist.

Boheman wrote in 1812 at Lund University, where he studied law. A year later, he chose a military career and took part in a campaign in 1814 against Norway. In 1837 he was promoted to captain. His off-duty time Boheman used mainly for scientific excursions where he was accompanied by a short time by younger researchers. Over the course of 30 years, he put together a comprehensive collection of insects, which he built later in the collection of the Natural History Museum kingdom. His scientific reputation was now so far advanced that it was assigned in 1837 conducting duties at the Natural History Museum. 1838 elected him the Swedish Academy of Sciences as one of its members, and in 1841 they appointed him professor.

For the Natural History Museum, he wrote Årsberättelser om i framstegen insect Erna, myriapodernas och för arachnidernas naturalhistoria 1840-56 (annual reports on progress in the natural history of insects, millipedes and spiders for 1840-56 ). Among his numerous other works Nya svenska homoptera beskrifna ( description of new Swedish Hemiptera, 1847), Insecta Caffrariæ ( 1848-57, where he described the 1838-45 Johan August Wahlberg ( 1810-1856 ) collected African insects), continue till bidrag God Lands insect fauna ( contribution to the insect fauna of Gotland, 1850), Monographia cassididarum I-IV ( 1850-62 ), Entomologiska anteckningar under en resa i södra Sverige 1851 ( Entomological notes from a trip in the south of Sweden, 1852) and the Catalogue of coleopterous Insects in the Collection of the British Museum. Part IX. Cassididæ (1856 ).
