Carl Rabl

Carl Rabl ( born 2 May 1853 in Wels, Austria, † December 24, 1917 in Leipzig) was an Austrian zoologist, anatomist and university teachers.

Life

Carl Rabl came from a Bavarian family of doctors, who had emigrated in the 18th century to Upper Austria. He attended the Stiftsgymnasium Kremsmuenster and studied medicine and zoology at the universities of Vienna, Leipzig and Jena. He received his doctorate in 1882 in Vienna as MD and qualified as a year later for descriptive anatomy. After two years as a lecturer, he was in 1885 appointed Associate Professor appointed.
