Carling

Carling is the name of a lager beer brand in Canada, Australia, South Africa and the United Kingdom. Owner of the beer brand is the Molson Coors Brewing Company.

History

1840 Thomas Carling established a small brewery in London, Ontario. After his death, his sons John and William took over the company and renamed it in W & J Carling Brewing Co.. John Carling was beaten to a nationally known person in the field of economy and politics, and was knighted in 1893. After his death in 1911 Carling changed hands several times until the Canadian brewer Molson, the company acquired in 1989.

1999 Carling sold 1 billion pints in the UK, breaking the former record. Since then, Carling is the best selling lager in the UK.

Public relations

Carling has long been the main sponsor of the Glasgow football clubs Glasgow Rangers and Glasgow Celtic. In addition, Carling was 2003-2012 sponsor of the English League Cup and the Premier League. In the 1970s, the Carling Brewery also joined as a sponsor in international motorsport in appearance. Thus, for example, supported Roy Woods Racing in the CanAm season 1973 and the BMW Team Belgium in the brands World Cup 1978.
