Carlini Base

The Jubany Station is a permanent Argentine research station in Antarctica. The first settlement was in 1953 on King George Iceland, an island in the South Shetland Islands. The maximum population is 60 people, the winter population at 20 The station is located close to other bases ( Uruguay, Chile, Korea, Russia, China and Poland) and right next to a colony of more than 16,000 penguins and sea lions 650.

The station itself was built in 1982; live here in the winter about 20 people. The base consists of 15 buildings, 2 laboratories and has since April 2005, a movie theater. To reach them, you fly from Ushuaia to Morambio station and travels by ship.

Opened in 1994, the Alfred Wegener Institute in close proximity to Jubany the Dallmann Laboratory. The laboratory is not an independent station, but uses the logistics of the Argentines in a friendly research cooperation.
