Carlo Grua

Carlo Luigi Grua (* around 1700 in Milan, † April 11, 1773 in Mannheim ) was an Italian composer and conductor of the early classical period.

Carlo Grua came from an Italian-German family of musicians. His father Carlo Luigi Pietro Grua (1665-1726) was Vice-Kapellmeister at the Dresden court orchestra. He himself was from 1733 Kapellmeister of Duke Charles III. Philipp of the Palatinate at the Mannheim court. His son Franz Paul Grua (1753-1833) was a violinist at the Mannheim court and later in Munich, where he rose to become Kapellmeister.
