Carlos Barredo

Carlos Barredo Llamazales ( born June 5, 1981 in Oviedo ) is a retired Spanish road bicycle racer.

Career

To Barredos largest biggest successes as a cyclist counted the victory at the Clasica San Sebastian in 2009 and a stage win at the Vuelta a España in 2010.

In the media he was known for his anger about the missed stage victory in the Tour de France on July 24, 2008. He was defeated in the final sprint Marcus Burghardt.

For headlines Barredo sorrow when, after the finish at the 6th stage of the Tour de France 2010 delivered a confrontation with the Portuguese Rui Costa. Barredo struck with the front wheel of his bicycle at his opponent, this took the wheel off and retaliated with punches. Barredo complained that Rui Costa have touched on the closing kilometers, its handlebars.

In October 2012 asked the International Cycling Union UCI by the Spanish cycling federation due to irregularities in Barredos biological passport opening a doping process. Then Barredo declared in December 2012 his retirement from cycling.
