Carlos Chávez

Carlos Chávez Ramírez ( born June 13, 1899 in Popotla in Mexico City; † August 2, 1978 ibid ) was a Mexican composer and music educator.

Chavez is one of Mexico's most important composers of the 20th century. He was known far beyond his native land beyond. He combines his musical influences of original Mexican, particularly Indian folk music with European contemporary music, in which he draws on elements of neoclassicism.
