Carlos Martínez (actor)

Carlos Martínez ( born September 30, 1955 in Pravia, Asturias ) is a Spanish mime.

Career

For more than 25 years of pantomime Carlos Martínez traveled the world with his solo programs. Thanks to its universal language of pantomime, the Spaniard has a special talent, origins quickly make contact with people.

Since the age of 12, he lives in Barcelona, where he soon joined a community theater group and thereby discovered his love for theater. In 1980 he attended the pantomime school Taller de Mimo y Teatro Contemporaneo and 1981, he entered into drama school El Timbal. From 1982 to 1987, he studied with teachers such as Carlos Manuel Lillo and Jorge Vera. Since 1986, Carlos works professionally as Mime, created a world of gestures that connect its Mediterranean temperament and humor with precise technique and rhythm. This highly personal language is universal and thus has given him the freedom to act not only in Spain but in the whole world.

Carlos is constantly pushing push the boundaries of silence, by designing their own new pieces as well in order for special occasions, conferences and trade shows new thematic pieces developed. Sketches of Silence is a collection of his most popular pieces, which has now become a trademark. Other programs such as Books without Words (books without words ) or Handmade come as a great deal of echo. Both programs won the Audience Award at prestigious theater festivals in Portugal: Handmade in June 2004 at the International Theatre Festival " Almada " and books without words in August 2009 at the 5th international TeatroAgosto Festival in Fundão.

The program My Bible that was shown throughout the German-speaking countries in innumerable parishes, offers a fresh approach to the "old " stories and found great enthusiasm. 2002 Carlos Martínez with this program winners of the ecumenical Bible and Culture Foundation, based in Stuttgart. This foundation, supported by the German Bible Society, the Protestant churches and the Catholic dioceses was established in 1987 to strengthen the importance of the Bible in the cultural and intellectual life.

Inspired by a project by the Theatre Company Zahori Carlos Martínez decided next, to develop the theme of " human rights " as a pantomime program for the stage. In February 2004, the premiere of Human Rights was held in Geneva. He succeeded in spite of this challenging topic to combine depth, provocation and humor with each other.

At the same time he published his first DVD My Bible. In September 2005, followed by DVD number 2 (Human Rights ) with his program about the " human rights". With excerpts from this program, he performed on the human rights award from Amnesty International on 19 March 2006 at the Deutsches Theater in Berlin. Among the guests of the evening included, inter alia, German President Horst Köhler, Herbert Grönemeyer, Dominique Horwitz and Franka Potente. In November 2006, the "Human Rights " production for the Adam Award of Sabaoth International Film Festival in Milan was nominated (Category: Feature Documentary ). Time for the start of 2007, in which he celebrates his 25th anniversary on stage as a pantomime, the 3rd DVD ( " HANDMADE ") appears by Carlos Martínez in Brunnen Verlag (casting ).

In the years 2005 and 2008 he toured with the German journalist Andreas Malessa with the program " Still & Strong " by Germany. The program presented in 25 compact pieces presented basic human experiences using the polarity of speech and silence. The director was in this production of American Robert Long.

As a theater teacher Carlos was involved in the founding of several theater groups. He taught mime at public schools. He also regularly teaches as a mime instructor at the University of Zaragoza and international artists seminars.

Carlos wrote about 50 sketches for pantomime and theater. His first pantomime Manual In Silence (Silent Art, 1992) was published in Spanish, German and French. His second book, Word of Mime ( Mime Word, 1995) was transferred to French and German. The book " Unvarnished wisdom " appears in the German book trade in August 2009. As it carries subtitles "From the wardrobe of life" and tells short stories from the dressing room. In summer 2011, the English edition were ( "From the Dressing Room") and the Spanish edition ( " Desde el camerino " ) published the book. "Books without words ," the show that in August 2009 the Audience Award at the 5th TeatroAgosto festivals in Fundão (Portugal ) won, was brought as a 4 DVD by Carlos Martínez in November 2012 on the German market (,).

In 2012, he celebrates the mime with his new show " Fata Morgana " its 30th anniversary on stage.
