Carlos Quipo

Carlos Quipo (born 17 May 1990) is an Ecuadorian boxer in the light flyweight. He was Pan-American champion in 2010 and participant in the 2012 Olympic Games.

Career

In the youth level ( U19) Quipo unsuccessfully took part in the 2008 World Championships, since it already eliminated in the first fight against the Argentinian Fernando Martinez. In the same year he made ​​his debut in the men's field with the participation of the Ecuadorian Championship, which he won at first in the class to 46 kg. This title win he could repeat in the light flyweight in 2011.

2009 followed by the first participations in international tournaments in the men's area, he very well sections with third place finishes in Santiago de los Caballeros, Santiago de Cuba, Sancti Spiritus and and therefore was also nominated for the World Championships in Milan. In this he failed after victories against Sikham Vongphakoune, Laos ( 13:5 ) and Alisher Mahmudov, Uzbekistan ( 20:9 ), in the second round at eventual runners David Hajrapetjan, Russia ( 5:14 ). Followed in 2010 for Quipo in spring a silver medal at the South American Championships in Medellin before he celebrated his biggest success: winning the Pan American Championship title in the flyweight. 2011 started for Quipo by winning the qualifying tournament of the Pan American Games 2011 which represents something like a South American championship. Here, he suggested, inter alia, Yosvany Veitía from Cuba. But at the Pan American Games, he lost himself in the first fight against the Dominican Juan Gabriel Medina. After Quipo in the same year won a tournament in Caguas, in Barquisimeto, took second place in La Romana and the third party, he took the second time at the world championships. Again he failed in the second round, this time to a victory against the Turks Ferhat Pehlivan ( 17:10 ) and a defeat against the Indians Devendro Singh Laishram ( 12:18 ).
