Caro Emerald

Caro Emerald ( born April 26, 1981 in Amsterdam, actually Caroline Esmeralda van der Leeuw ) is a Dutch pop and jazz singer.

Career

Emerald studied at the Conservatory of Amsterdam jazz singing and made their 2005 financial statements. In 2007, she jumped as a substitute for demo recordings of the song Back It Up one of the producers David Schreurs and Jan van Ingen Four and the Canadian Songwriters Vince Degiorgio. Later Emerald used the song even with their own performances.

An appearance at a regional station in 2008 brought her then better known, and then she put a self- made ​​video on YouTube one, which further increased its popularity. With interruptions, it remained 30 weeks on the chart tip, longer than any album before in the Netherlands. It has been awarded with triple platinum for more than 150,000 copies sold. At the MTV Europe Music Awards 2010, she won the audience choice for best artist of the year in the Netherlands and Belgium.
