Carpinteria is a city in Santa Barbara County in the U.S. state of California, United States, with 14,000 inhabitants ( 2004). It is located right on the Pacific Ocean.

The metropolitan area has a total area of 18.8 square kilometers and is located 12 miles south of Santa Barbara. It has a railway and a highway connecting U.S. Highway 101

Carpinteria is the seat of Pacifica Graduate Institute, a private university. Locally, the weekly newspaper, The Coastal View will appear. Since 1987 takes place here every year in October, the California Avocado Festival. The Carpinteria Valley Museum of History is located at the Maple Avenue.
