Cartmel is a peninsula in south Cumbria, England. Historically, it was, though she Morecambe Bay lies to the north, part of Lancashire.

The peninsula is sometimes attributed to the Furness peninsula, but is clearly demarcated geographically and must also be seen independently accordingly. The Cartmel peninsula extends south of Morecambe Bay. To the west of the River Leven Cartmel is delimited by the Furness Peninsula, to the east of the River Winster is the limit. As northern boundary is the boundary of the historic county of Westmorland, which is also formed from the River Winster considered.

The predominantly rural area was controlled for a long time by the monks of Cartmel Priory. The Furness Railway has helped to develop the region. The only major town on the peninsula is Grange-over -Sands.
