Casimir William of Hesse-Homburg

Casimir William of Hesse -Homburg ( born March 23, 1690 in Weferlingen; † October 9, 1726 in Hötensleben ) was a prince of Hesse- Homburg.

Life

Casimir Wilhelm was the youngest son of Landgrave Frederick II of Hesse -Homburg (1633-1708), the famous Prince of Homburg, from his second marriage with Louise Elisabeth (1646-1690), daughter of Duke Jacob of Courland. He was together with his three years younger half-brother Ludwig Georg ( from Frederick II third marriage with Countess Sophie von Leiningen - Westerburg Sybille ( 1656-1724 ) educated. During a visit with his cousin Duke Friedrich of Mecklenburg awoke in him the passion for hunting, the he shared with his father and his brothers.

Since his older brother in succession stood before him and had two sons, he moved to a military career and fought in 1708 in a Mecklenburg Regiment Prinz Eugen. Beginning in 1715, he joined the Swedish army under Charles XII. one. Already in the early summer he was captured at Wismar and resigned from the military service.

In 1718 the estate was in Hötensleben awarded to him by lot. On October 8, 1722 he married in Braunfels Christine Charlotte ( 1690-1751 ), daughter of Count Wilhelm Moritz zu Solms - Braunfels.

He was at times the owner of the opposite Homburg Castle today's Sinclair House. Reported is the " hunting diary " of avid hunter and horse lover.
