Casner Motor Racing Division

Camoradi Racing, an abbreviation for Casner Motor Racing Division, was an American racing team.

The racing team

The company, which was founded in 1959 by Lloyd Casner became known, through the use of the Maserati Birdcage at sports car racing in the United States and in Europe. In 1960, the team with the Italian vehicles came to Le Mans in order to contest the 24 - hour race. However, none of the three vehicles used saw the checkered flag. The distance traveled by Chuck Daigh and Masten Gregory car failed as a damage to the electrical system as the car with the start number 24, driven by Giorgio Scarlatti and Gino Munaron. Casner itself failed with teammates Jim Jeffords early by a gearbox failure. A also used by Camoradi Chevrolet Corvette ( one of the drivers was Fred Gamble), although crossed the finish line, but was not classified (too much behind the winner ). It should be the only appearance of the team at Le Mans.

However, the technically delicate Maserati also could be piloted to victories. In 1960 they won with Dan Gurney and Stirling Moss 1000 km on the Nürburgring, even though the Maserati already suffered at half time with a broken fuel line. This success could be repeated in 1961, this time with Masten Gregory and Casner at the wheel.

Little success, the team was also active in Formula 1, the Tec -Mec Maserati, with the Fritz d' Orey 1959 contested the Grand Prix of the United States, was a bad design and fell out early. Also Masten Gregory failed in two attempts in 1960 and 1961.

In 1963, the team disbanded and Lloyd Casner himself died in April 1965 testing at Le Mans.
