Giorgio Scarlatti
Giorgio Scarlatti ( born October 2, 1921 in Rome, † 26 July 1990 according to other sources January 2, 1992 ) was an Italian racing driver.
As a wealthy private driver he made his quite remarkable motorsport operations in the late 1950s for Maserati in sports car racing and several Formula 1 stakes.
One of his best years was the Formula 1 season in 1957, when he came after several frustrating race results that were often caused by technical defects at his home Grand Prix at Monza in fifth -placed finish. It is precisely this success compensated him a little that he had just received Stuart Lewis -Evans had " stolen " in the closing stages of the Grand Prix of Pescara fifth.
At the Targa Florio in 1958 Jean Behra shared with him a Porsche RSK. Disappointed with the result expressed Behra later his view that they might well have won. But Scarlatti would not have been a more rapid procedure in the situation. From this unusual sports cars drivers blame probably said the frustration over their own racing bad luck that the French had overtaken so many times against a tangible victory.
