Castasegna
Castasegna ( [ kɐʃtɐzeɲɐ ]? / I, German outdated Casta Engen ) was a municipality in the district Bregaglia, district of Maloja in the canton of Graubünden in Switzerland. On 1 January 2010, the municipalities of the Bergell merged (ie Bondo, Castasegna, Soglio, Stampa and Vicosoprano ) to the new community Bregaglia.
Castasegna is the lowest-lying village of Bergells and lies directly on the border between Italy and Switzerland.

Languages
In Castasegna is called a traditional Lombard dialect. Since the early 20th century, there is a German -speaking minority. The development of recent decades shows the table below:
Religions and denominations
1552 were the inhabitants converted to the Protestant faith.
Origin and nationality
From the end of 2005 187 inhabitants were 178 ( = 95 % ) Swiss nationals.
Economy
One of the main employer is the power station of Zurich ( EWZ ) City, which operates a power plant here.
Another major employer is the Founded in 1979 Soglio Products AG, which produces natural personal care products and markets. Since 1986, the operation in Castasegna, housed in the former hotel " Croce Bianca ".
Cultural landscape
In Castasegna is the Brentan, the largest chestnut forest in Europe. The climate is more Mediterranean.
Attractions
- The Reformed village church of Santa Trinità and San Giovanni are under cantonal conservation.
- The " Villa Garbald " with pergola and garden area, the left design for himself and his wife Johanna Garbald - Gredig 1862 by Gottfried Semper the tax collector Garbald. It is the only building Semper south of the Alps. 2004, the villa of the architect Quintus Miller and Paola Maranta was restored.
