Cataract Falls (Indiana)

The Cataract Falls are waterfalls on Mill Creek in Owen County, Indiana. Judging by the amount of water they are the biggest cases in this U.S. state.

The cases consist of two stages - the top cases with a height of six meters, about five feet high strain cases half a mile downstream. Overall, the Mill Creek overcomes 26 meters height in the field of Cataract Falls. The lower falls are flooded in the flood area of the Cagles Mill Lakes and thus at high water.

In the cases originated from the early 19th century several water mills and provided for the recovery of the small village of Cataract in Jennings Township. Since the decline of these industries, the Cataract Falls are especially important for tourism.

Along the cataracts extends the Cataract Falls State Recreation Area, a state recreation area. This includes the location above the falls Cataract Covered Bridge.
