Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception, Beijing
The Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception in Beijing (Chinese Xuanwumen tianzhutang宣武门 天主堂), the locally under the name Nantang (南 堂" Südkathedrale ", " South Church ", " South Cathedral " ) is known, is a Roman Catholic church in Beijing, China. It lies on the Qianmen West Street in the area of Xuanwumen, City Xicheng District.
The church is the cathedral of the Archdiocese of Beijing.
History
First, a home with a small chapel for his religious activities was developed by the Italian Jesuit Matteo Ricci in this place built ( 1605), that the later in time the Qing Dynasty, in the 7th year of the reign of Emperor Shunzhi era ( 1650), under German Jesuit Johann Adam Schall was expanded from Bell.
The cathedral stands since 1996 on the list of monuments of the People's Republic of China ( 4-165 ).
