Catherine of Poděbrady

Catherine of Podiebrad (also Cunegonde or Kunhuta; * November 11, 1449 in Poděbrady, † March 8, 1464 in Buda ) was Queen of Hungary.

She was born as the daughter of the Bohemian King George of Podiebrad and his first wife Gwendolyn von Sternberg. Her twin sister Sidonie was later. Than wife of Albrecht the Courageous Duchess of Saxony

On May 1, 1461, she married the age of twelve Matthias Corvinus, King of Hungary since 1458. Three years after the marriage of Catherine became pregnant and had a stillbirth. She herself died a few days after birth in childbirth and was buried in the Sigismund 's Church in Budapest. She was only 15 years old.

Her husband married only twelve years later his second wife Beatrix of Aragon, but this marriage remained childless.
