Cauchy is a relatively small, bowl -shaped impact crater on the lunar front side in the plane of the Sea of ​​Tranquility, to the west of the crater Da Vinci (crater ) and east of Sina. North of him passing the moon groove Rima Cauchy, south of the ridge Rupes Cauchy.

The crater was officially named by the IAU in 1935 after the French mathematician Augustin- Louis Cauchy.
