Cecilia Brækhus

Cecilia Braekhus ( born September 28, 1981 in Cartagena, Colombia) is a Norwegian boxer Colombian descent and current world champion of the WBA, WBC and WBO welterweight. Cecilia Braekhus is in Bergen, Norway, grew up and lives in Berlin since 2008.

Amateur

Since her career start as a kick boxer at the age of 14 years (European semi contact style), she won several national awards and was European and World Champion.

As an amateur boxer in 2004, she was Vice - European Champion in the light welterweight, and in 2005 Norwegian champion at middleweight. In the 4th European Championships in Norway in May 2005, she won the gold medal in the light welterweight. She suggested doing Mandy Leunissen from the Netherlands ( Ko), Larisa Pop from Romania ( 29:18 ) and the Russian Julia Nemtsowa ( 22:15 ). In September and October of the same year, she also took part in the 3rd World Championships in Russia, where she won the silver medal in the light welterweight. After victories against Islak Elif from Turkey ( Ko), Alanna Murphy from Ireland ( 30:12 ) and Vinni Skovgård from Denmark ( 40:24 ) she was subject to this time in the finals Julia Nemtsowa ( 23:34 ).

Professional career

On January 20, 2007 Cecilia Braekhus received her first professional fight against the Croatian Ksenija Koprek and won by unanimous decision. In November 2007, Cecilia Braekhus was accepted as so far only woman in the boxing stable of German Boxpromotors Wilfried Sauerland. After nine more victories it was on March 14, 2009 by a unanimous points victory against Vinni Skovgård, world champion of the WBA and WBC welterweight.

After title defenses against the American Amy Yuratovac and unbeaten Italian Lucia Morelli ( 12-0 ), it was on 15 May 2010 by a unanimous points victory against the American Victoria Cisneros also world champion of the WBO title holder, and thus the three largest Boxverbände. So far, they defended their titles in Germany, Denmark and Finland against Mikaela Laurén from Sweden, Éva Halasi from Serbia, the Americans Jill Emery, Chevelle Hall back and Ku'ulei Kupihea, as well as the German Jessica Balogun and the Frenchwoman Anne Sophie Mathis.
