Celestino Cavedoni

Celestino Cavedoni ( born May 18, 1795 in Levizzano - Rangone ( Castelvetro di Modena) in Modena, † November 26, 1865 in Modena ) was an Italian priest, archaeologist and numismatist.

He attended the seminary and studied from 1816 to 1821 at the University of Bologna Archaeology and Greek and Hebrew. In 1817 he was ordained a priest. He was curator of the numismatic museum of Modena and received in 1820 a place in the Biblioteca Estense in Modena. 1830 to 1863 he held the chair of hermeneutics at the University of Modena. He edited the collection of Bartolomeo Borghesi. From 1814, he had published some 820 publications. He was a member of the Accademia Etrusca.
