Celina Jesionowska

Celina Jesionowska (married Gerwin, in second marriage Orzechowska; born November 3, 1933, Łomża ) is a former Polish athlete who was an international success as a sprinter.

Jesionowska won at the European Athletics Championships 1958 in Stockholm together with Maria Chojnacka, Barbara and Mary Janiszewska Bibro the bronze medal in the 4 x 100 - meter relay. Another bronze medal in the relay, she won at the Olympic Games in Rome in 1960, along with Teresa Wieczorek, Barbara Janiszewska and Halina judge. In the 200 -meter run, however, she missed qualifying for the finals.

The 1.64 m wide and 55 kg Celina Jesionowska launched for the OWKS Lublin ( 1951-1953 ) and Legia Warsaw ( 1954-1966 ). She has won, among others, with the Order of Merit of the Republic of Poland and the Order of Polonia Restituta.
