Celle–Wittingen railway

The railway line Celle- Witt rings is a railroad in the Osthannoverschen Railways ( OHE ). Because it leads in the western part along the Laughed, it is also called Laughed Valley Railway.

History

The little train Celle- Wittingen AG finally founded after prolonged efforts to railway Celle- Witt rings on June 21, 1902 spurred the construction and began on August 16, 1904, the operations on this route. Starting in 1905 there was a joint management agreement with the local railway Celle mountains for the used also by their piece of Celle Celle northern suburbs. In the late 1990s ended the crude oil transportation. In 1999, the track was laid in the area Lachendorf north to make room for the expansion of an industrial company and set up a new station Lachendorf North. On 8 November 2005, the section Beedenbostel - Habighorst was finally shut down.

The Wittinger port is operated to this day (2012 ). It is planned to connect the stretch Wittingen -west port Wittingen means of a newly constructed track ( Wittinger curve) directly to the DB station Witt rings and for giving up their own station in Wittingen -West. The route west of the Elbe Lateral Canal to Celle suburb would then no longer held by the OHE.
