Dedelstorf

Dedelstorf is a municipality in the district of Gifhorn in Lower Saxony. It belongs to the Samtgemeinde Hankensbuettel, which has its headquarters in the town of Hankensbuettel.

Geography

Dedelstorf located west of Hankensbuettel near the Nature Park South Heath.

History

Incorporations

On March 1, 1974, the municipalities Allersehl, long -tailed, Lingwedel, Oerrel, Repke and Weddersehl were incorporated.

Coat of arms

Blazon: " Shared by red and green with a silver wave band; above a silver Heidschnucken head down a silver oak leaf with seven points and a silver ear with seven grains. "

The red of the top half represents the heath areas within the municipal area, the moorland sheep head for a moorland sheep flock. The silver wave band symbolizes the watercourses in the community. The green color of the lower half and the ear and the oak leaf stand for agriculture and forests and oak groves. The seven grains of the ear and the seven peaks Oak leaf refer to the seven districts.

The municipal area is a nature reserve Schnuckenheide.

Dedelstorf lies to the east of the branch of the federal highway 244 which leads to Helmstedt, from the main road 4 ( Uelzen - Braunschweig).

North of the village Repke is the Segelfluggelände Schnuckenheide - Repke.

Garrison

Dedelstorf 1936 was the first time a garrison town and got a airbase, after the war, the British still continued to use for a while, see the airfield Dedelstorf.

The hitherto known only as a warehouse Dedelstorf barracks was the name Richthofen Kaserne awarded on October 1, 1964, after the German army had already moved there in 1962. In 1994, she left the church again, and the barracks were closed.
