Centawa

Centawa is a place in Upper Silesia in the municipality of heaven joke ( Jemielnica ) in the powiat Strzelecki in the Opole Voivodeship.

History

Centawa was first mentioned in documents in 1253. 1404 the village name was mentioned Czanto, 1407 place names Centhow and Centow.

1845 there were 60 buildings, a Vorwerk and 382 inhabitants in Centawa. Of these, one was Protestant and three Jewish. 1896 lived in Centawa 477 inhabitants.

In the referendum on March 20, 1921 voted 56 voters to remain in Germany and 212 for Poland. Nevertheless Centawa remained with the German Reich. On July 21, 1936, the town was renamed in Haldenau.

In 1945, it was under Polish administration and was rückbenannt in Centawa, although the Polish name of the town was Cętawa. In 1950, the city came to Opole Voivodeship. In 1999 the place to re-founded powiat Strzelecki.
