Ceropegia aridicola

Ceropegia aridicola (Ch丽江 吊灯 花li jiang hua deng diao ) is a species of the subfamily of milkweed plants ( Asclepiadoideae ). It is located in the Chinese province of Yunnan.

Vegetative characteristics

Ceropegia is a perennial plant, herbaceous, upright growing plant with a tuberous rootstock. The ovoid to spherical tubers reach a diameter of about 3 cm. From a tuberous root only drives a, rarely two upright, to 50 cm high shoots, which branch dichotomously. You are bald, the basal parts and without leaves. The slightly fleshy leaves have 4 to 6 mm long stalks. The leaf blades are ovate to rounded triangular, 5-15 mm long and 3-10 mm wide. The top is covered with rough hair; on the underside of the leaf veins are hairy fluffy. The base is heart-shaped pointed to nearly spit -shaped and at the outer end. The edges are bent over the side " nervous " only hinted at.

Inflorescence and flowers

The inflorescence is directly adjacent to the stem axis and has one to three flowers on. The five petals are hermaphrodite and zygomorphic, and have a double perianth. The flower stalks are held 3 to 10 mm long and sparse with downy hairs. The sepals are lanceolate to linear - lanceolate, about 2 mm long and 1 mm wide. The five petals are fused into the lower tube-like about three quarters and form a 1 to 1.5 cm long (high ), just corolla. It is sparsely hairy outside, inside glabrous. The corolla tube is 7-10 mm long and wide at the base ovate - inflated for so-called " Kronkessel ". The 3-5 mm long Kronblattzipfel are broad - ovate to rhombic and grown approximately in the middle; they form a flat screen. The outer half of the Kronblattzipfel forms a central boss on this screen. The corona is sitting, that is, grown without stem and cup-shaped and not hairy. The interstaminalen Nebenkronblattzipfel are triangular, the staminal Nebenkronblattzipfel linear - spatulate or tongue-shaped. They are twice as long as the outer interstaminalen Nebenkronblattzipfel.

Fruit and seeds

The paired fusiform follicles are up to 4.5 cm long. The seeds measure about 5 mm.

Similar Species

Geographical distribution and ecology

The species occurs in the Chinese province of Yunnan in the area of Lijiang to Shangri- La ( Zhongdian earlier ) before. It grows in the grasslands in 1500 to 3000 m above sea level. In its natural habitat it flowers in July to August. The fruits form in September and October.

Endangering

The species is critically endangered. It is classified by the International Union for Conservation of Nature and Natural Resources ( IUCN) as " Endangered ".

Taxonomy

The taxon was first described by William Wright Smith 1920. Synonyms are so far not known.
