Červeník ( until 1948 slovak " Veresvar "; Hungarian Vágvörösvár - to 1907 Vörösvár ) a municipality in western Slovakia, with 1606 inhabitants (as of 31 December 2011), which belongs to Okres Hlohovec, a part of the Trnavský kraj.
Geography
The municipality is located in Danube hilly country ( Podunajská pahorkatina ), a part of the Slovak Danube lowlands on the right bank side of the Waag, in addition kanál here separated by the channel Drahovský. The municipal area connects seamlessly to the south of town Leopoldov and is five kilometers Hlohovecký and 15 kilometers away from Piešťany.
Červeník is the only place in the community.
History
The town was first mentioned in 1113 as a bin in the Zoborská certificates. This name appears with variations until the end of the 13th century; 1317 appeared on the Verusvar name, which translates as " Rotenburg ". The settlement belonged to various noble families. The original location was at the present town Leopoldov place in 1665 but bought the Hungarian royal chamber by the then owner Adam Forgách a part of the municipality to build there fortress Leopoldov, which should keep the expansion of the Ottoman Empire. Thereafter, the present town developed north of the fortress whose inhabitants were known as a vegetable gardener. In 1948, the local name of national political reasons was replaced by a Slavicized name variant.

Traffic
Červeník is on the main road 61 and the D1 motorway, junction Červeník ( exits only ) accessible. The nearest railway station is in Leopoldov on the railway line Bratislava - Žilina.
