César Gabriel de Choiseul

César Gabriel de Choiseul (* August 14, 1712 in Paris, † November 15, 1785 ) was a French military, diplomat and statesman. He was Marquis de Choiseul, Comte de Chevigny et de La Rivière, Vicomte de Melun et Vaux, Baron de La Flèche, de Sainte -Suzanne, et de Giry, Seigneur de Chassy. César Gabriel de Choiseul was the son of Hubert de Choiseul († 1727), called the Marquis de Choiseul, and Henriette Louise de Beauvau.

As a soldier, was lieutenant general, as a diplomat, he was ambassador in Vienna. As a relative of Étienne François de Choiseul - Stainville he was from October 13, 1761 Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs, that French Foreign Minister. On January 1, 1762, he was inducted into the Order of the Holy Spirit, was appointed Duke of Praslin and peer of France, on November 2, 1762. On April 10, 1766 he joined the Department of the Navy, as Étienne de Choiseul once again took over the Foreign Office. On December 15, 1769 was César Gabriel de Choiseul honorary member of the Académie des sciences. On April 30, 1732 he married Anne Marie de Champagne de Villa Ines de La Suze († December 27, 1783 ), daughter of René Brandelis, Marquis de Villa Ines et de la Varenne, and Catherine Thérèse Le Royer. The couple had two children:
