Cesáreo González

Cesáreo González ( * May 29, 1903 in Vigo, † March 20, 1968 in Madrid) was a Spanish film producer.

Life

González came from a poor family in Galicia. Mid-1920s, he emigrated to Cuba, traveled to Mexico and eventually returned back to Spain in 1931. In 1941 he founded the film company Suevia film, the long time should remain one of the most important Spanish film companies. González preferably worked with a fixed group of directors, including José Luis Sáenz de Heredia and Florián Rey, and also with a solid group of actors together. Among the latter, he z.T. discovered and promoted were Lola Flores, Carmen Sevilla, José Suárez, Paquita Rico, José Jiménez Fernández and Sara Montiel.

As González died unexpectedly in 1968, began the decline of his film company.

Movies

The first produced film titled Polizón a bordo ( Hidden passenger on board ) was in Franco's Spain as the best film of the year. The 1943 film produced El abanderado the theme of a Spanish fighting against Napoleon. Later folklore and comedies were one of the strengths of the film company.

The film La venganza ( The Revenge ) has been awarded a Palme d'Or and was nominated for an Oscar.
