CFB Edmonton, also known as Edmonton Garrison or " Steele Barracks ", is a military base of the Canadian Forces in the vicinity of Edmonton, Alberta, Canada.

History

The Airfield began its operations at the end of the First World War and was instrumental in the development of the northern regions of the country. During the Second World War the airfield of the Royal Canadian Air Force ( RCAF ) as an education and training center under the British Commonwealth Air Training plan has been used. There was an Elementary Flying Training School and the Air Observer School at the base. Another educational institution, the Initial Training School was located at the University of Alberta.

Units

On the military base of around 4,500 soldiers and 500 reservists are stationed. In addition, approximately 500 civilian employees and about 7,500 family members at the base are located.
