CFB Shilo

The Canadian Forces Base Shilo (CFB Shilo ) Base des Forces canadiennes or Shilo ( Shilo BFC ) is a military base and training ground of the Canadian Forces and their allies. The base is located about 35 km east of Brandon, Manitoba, Canada. He is from the Canadian Department of Defense, the Department of National Defence ( DND), operated and has a helipad.

In addition to the regular soldiers who train regularly at the base, still reserve units and soldiers from other NATO countries such as France, Germany, Denmark, USA and the UK.

History

The grounds of CFB Shilo was already used in 1910 as a training ground for the military. After the outbreak of the First World War, it was expanded. Ammunition and shooting exercises were initially held there, but they were set a short time later, as they came upon discontent with the adjacent population. From 1942, the area of paratroopers units was used as a training ground. In the following years, trained at the base in various units, including from NATO allies.
