Chacornac (crater)

Chacornac is an impact crater on the moon northeastern front in the mountains of Montes Taurus on the edge of Mare Serenitatis, in the northwest of the rim of the larger crater Posidonius touching. The rim is heavily eroded. Inside the crater there is a system of lunar grooves Rimae Chacornac.

The crater was officially named by the IAU in 1935 by the French astronomer Jean Chacornac.
