Chambonchard
Chambonchard is a commune with 87 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2011 ) in the department of Creuse in the Limousin region; it belongs to the administrative district in the canton of Aubusson and Évaux -les- Bains.
Geography
The municipality is situated approximately 30 kilometers southwest of Montlucon, on the border with the neighboring departments of Allier and Puy -de- Dôme in the Auvergne region, which is formed here by the river Cher. Neighboring communities of Chambonchard are:
- La Petite -Marche in the Northeast,
- Saint -Marcel -en- Marcillat in the east,
- Château- sur -Cher in the southeast and
- Évaux -les- Bains in the south, west, northwest.
The town itself is situated in a river loop on the left bank of the Cher, in the on the opposite side of the river joins the Tartasse. The municipal office is located slightly away from the river in the hamlet of Le Theix.
